Easter, the Bible, and the Call to Go: Why Travel Matters More Than You Think

Y’all, Easter always hits different, doesn’t it? It’s a reminder of hope, fresh starts, and something we all need—purpose. And you know what? Travel is woven all through the Easter story and the Bible itself. Seriously. The whole book is packed with people going places, following a calling, or stepping into the unknown.

From Abraham leaving his home (“Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” – Genesis 12:1) to Moses leading the Israelites through the wilderness (“The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you...” – Deuteronomy 1:30), to Paul hopping all over the place to share the gospel (“I must go on to Jerusalem... I do not know what will happen to me there.” – Acts 20:22), God’s people were on the move.

Even Jesus didn’t stay in one spot. His whole ministry happened on the road—He met people on hillsides, in towns, by the sea (“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues...” – Matthew 9:35). He walked with people, met them where they were, and showed them something new.

That’s the kind of travel I love helping y’all do.

Now, don’t get me wrong—your trip to the beach isn’t exactly a pilgrimage. But hear me out: there’s something holy about stepping away from your routine and seeing the world with fresh eyes. There’s peace in the mountains. Restoration in the ocean. Joy in exploring something new. Travel opens your heart just like faith does. And sometimes, it takes getting out of your zip code to hear God more clearly.

For me? The ocean is my reset button. There’s just something about the feeling of warm sand under my feet—it’s like a hug from the earth itself. And the breeze off the water? It soothes my soul in ways I can’t quite explain. It reminds me that God’s presence isn’t limited to a church building. Sometimes, He’s right there in the rhythm of the waves, in the stillness between the tides, in the quiet moments where I can finally breathe again.

This time of year, especially right around Easter, always reminds me that new life doesn’t just mean a fresh start—it means movement. Taking that first step. Saying yes. Trusting that something good is waiting for you on the other side of the journey.

(“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” – Isaiah 43:19)

So if your soul is tired, or you’re stuck in a rut, maybe it’s time to go. Not to run away, but to come back fuller, richer, and more connected—to yourself, to your people, and maybe even to God.

(“He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” – Psalm 23:2-3)

And if you’re thinking, “Okay, but where would I even go?”—y’all already know that’s where I come in. Whether it’s a quiet cabin in the woods, a long weekend by the ocean, or a big family trip to reconnect, I’ve got you. Let’s make your next trip more than just a getaway—let’s make it a reset.

Because travel might not be in the Bible as a command, but it sure is a theme. And sometimes the most faithful thing you can do… is pack a bag and trust the journey.

(“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” – Psalm 121:8)
